Coming in the next release

AWS

AWS isn't in Add a cloud machine yet. This page says how it will connect; details can change before it ships.

Until then, set a machine up by hand: the Linux server guide walks through a cloud VM.

How it will connect

With the access key of an IAM user that exists only for Codemany:

  1. Create the IAM user from the CloudFormation template Codemany ships, in the AWS account you want the machines in.

  2. Create an access key for that user.

  3. In Add a cloud machine, choose AWS and paste the key.

A user made for Codemany alone keeps the key away from the rest of your account, the way a dedicated project does on Hetzner.

What stays the same

Everything on Cloud machines is the same for every provider: the machine takes one machine seat, only SSH is open with a pinned host key, credentials stay in the Mac Keychain or the Linux keyring and are never sent to Codemany's servers, and Codemany only touches machines carrying its tag.

Until then

Create an EC2 instance yourself and install Codemany on it: the Linux server guide walks through a cloud VM, and its "AWS and others" section names comparable instance types. Keep the security group to SSH only, and reach the dashboard through an SSH tunnel.
