Who needs a subscription
The GitHub account or organization that owns the repositories. An organization's subscription covers all of that organization's repos, and your personal account's covers your personal repos. If one machine runs jobs for your personal repos and for an organization's, you need a subscription for each, and that machine counts once in each.
- Personal account: you subscribe for yourself.
- Organization: an admin of the organization starts the trial or subscribes. Any member can then add their machine to it. Someone who leaves the organization loses their machines on it.
- Repos you don't own: Codemany shows them, but they need their owner's subscription.
Machine seats
Each machine that runs jobs for an owner takes one of its machine seats. A seat belongs to that machine: Codemany makes a key for each machine and signs its license requests with it, so copying the license file to another machine doesn't work. If a copy of a machine shows up, both copies stop taking new jobs until you confirm which one keeps the seat.
A machine without a screen takes its seat from the command line:
codemany license activate --owner ID --token-stdin
Add, remove or move machines
Open the license settings in the app or the dashboard (Settings › License): they list every machine on the subscription with when it was last seen.
- Add a machine: +$10/month, charged pro rata now. Whoever pays can add one.
- Remove a machine: credited pro rata. Removing a machine frees its seat for another.
- Move to a new machine: remove the old one, then add the new one.
An old machine is never removed for you, so remove the ones you no longer use. You can also change the number of machines in the billing portal (Manage Subscription). A cloud machine asks before adding a seat for itself, and drops that seat when you remove it.
Offline, and when it ends
- A license keeps working for 7 days offline, and is refreshed online.
- When the trial or subscription ends, new runners stop with "Codemany Pro license required". Jobs already running are never stopped.
